Alicante Golf
Beside the Mediterranean Sea is Alicante Golf, located at San Juan beach only 5 minutes from Alicante City Centre. The wide tree lined fairways, all maintained with the greatest respect for the protection of the environment and the use of water, are a breath of fresh air within the residential area of La Condomina.
Designed by ‘Seve Ballesteros', it is the only 18 hole, par 72, golf course on the Iberian Peninsula that has the configuration of 6 par 3, 6 par 4 and 6 par 5 holes. On each 9, there are no two consecutive holes with the same par, making play more interesting and producing more birdie opportunities. The are 5 large lakes, which come into play on 12 of the 18 holes. All of these characteristics add to the enjoyment and challenge for players of all levels.
Alicante Golf has the reputation of being one of the best maintained courses in Spain combined with excellent practice facilities. The course has another interesting feature on the 14th hole; to reach the green, the shot is played over the ruins of the ‘Villa Ferrer', a Roman country house from 1 BC that was discovered during course construction.
Other great features of the course are the practice area, with a natural grass driving range and a fully equipped short game area, plus the ruins of a Roman villa dating back to the 1st century BC at Hole 14. The ruins came to light during building work on the course and the ball has to clear them to get to the green.
