Golf holidays in Gran Canaria
If you take golf holiday in Gran Canaria you will feel as though you have been transported to a golfing paradise because this volcanic island has the perfect golfing weather all year round. The temperature is never too hot, even in the height of summer when many golf destinations in Europe are sweltering; and it is never too cool, when many other golf destinations abroad are just too cold. It has been referred to as the Island of eternal spring.
Add to this the fact that it rarely rains and then you come to the realisation that this island was created with the UK golfer in mind, or at least that is the way it seems.
Located 130 mile from the African coast, it is the third largest island in the Canaries archipelago with Tenerife the largest and Fuerteventura second largest; it was created by volcanism and many features of the island testify to this fact.
It is a famous tourist resort so therefore all of the infra structure is in place to cater for the travelling golfer as well as fantastic sandy beaches there are a great selection of bars restaurants (especially seafood restaurants) and any other type of entertainment that you may seek.
After golf you can enjoy the cuisine of your choice followed by a selection of great bars and for the energetic the entertainment continues until dawn. Alternatively you can choose the quiet life because everything you could want is on hand and it is your choice.
Enjoy a golf trip in Gran Canaria and visit the famous sand dunes and its local ecology; these beautifully white dunes contrast with the dark back ground of the dark volcanic mountainous back drop creating a striking scenario that you will want to capture.
A golf break in Gran Canaria also offers some great golf courses; there are seven in total with some highly ranked courses such as Maspalomas, El Cortijo de Campo, Meloneras, Anfi Tauro and Salobre. The oldest course on the island is Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas or Golf Abama and it was constructed by British expatriates in 1891 and in fact this is the oldest golf club in Spain.
A golfing trip to Gran Canaria will prove to a golf holiday in the Canaries that you are guaranteed to enjoy and you will most certainly want to repeat.
